The Dell Children’s Sports Medicine team focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of childhood and adolescent injuries associated with sports and physical activity. Our sports medicine therapists and athletic trainer work with physicians to develop and implement a customized rehabilitation protocol in order to return the patient back to full participation as soon as possible. Our physical therapists use a variety of equipment including bands, free weights, cardio equipment, pool and a number of treatment methods to restore full function, strength and stamina.
The Kids We Care For
Because young athletes are still developing, they can have more at stake and be more susceptible to injuries than adults whose bones, ligaments, muscles, tendons and joints aren’t actively growing and changing. A childhood musculoskeletal injury that isn’t treated or rehabilitated properly could lead to long-term damage, especially when involving the growth plates in your child’s bones. Each member of our team has training to meet these unique challenges of pediatric therapy and rehabilitation. We understand how to develop an effective individualized treatment plan that addresses your child’s injury and takes into account further growth.
Pediatric sports medicine isn’t just for athletes, though. Our team also works with children who have an injury, illness or condition that affects exercise or activity and children who are preparing for or recovering from surgery. Some of the many injuries and conditions we treat include:
- Sprains and strains
- Bleeding disorders
- Pain management
- Neuromuscular re-education
- Ligament conditions and injuries
- Conditions that affect the back, such as scoliosis
- Joint conditions and injuries, such as tennis elbow
Our staff provides a full range of sports medicine rehabilitation through the Marnie Paul Specialty Care Center. After an evaluation, your child’s treatment plan may include strengthening exercises, stretching, endurance activities and conditioning techniques.
We also practice a comprehensive approach to pediatric therapy and rehabilitation that incorporates educating our patients and their families about the importance of quickly seeking treatment for an injury, how to prevent future sports- and activity-related injuries and how to safely return to playing sports.
- The care options we offer include:
- Non-surgical sports medicine clinic
- Surgical sports medicine clinic
- Orthopedic physical therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Hand therapy
- Speech therapy
- Concussion management
- Pediatric vestibular therapy
- Athletic training community outreach
- Injury prevention programs
- Screening athletes for injury risk
A multidisciplinary team that works closely together with your child’s doctor can be an essential part of helping your child recover from an injury or condition. Our team is designed to meet your child’s needs and provide high quality care in one place without the hassle of seeing different specialists at different offices.
Our therapists and athletic trainer hold nationally recognized professional certifications and terminal degrees in their fields that demonstrate their range of knowledge and education as specialists in the filed of pediatric sports medicine therapy and rehabilitation.

Getting Back to Life
Whether children are eager to rejoin their team or improve their activity level, our goal remains the same: We focus on therapy, rehabilitation and education because we want our patients to make the best recovery possible after an injury or illness and safely reach their full potential on the playground or the soccer field.
