Training & Research Programs

The Texas Child Study Center (TCSC) provides education and supervision for clinicians in training. The faculty provides training in evidence based treatments for youth and families and directly supervise trainees’ clinical work. Psychology and psychiatry trainees are taught to provide the highest quality of care at the Texas Child Study Center.

The center has several training programs including a student practicum program, a doctoral internship, and a postdoctoral fellowship program. Training programs are designed to build competencies in child clinical and pediatric psychology. Training experiences include outpatient therapy including evidence based protocols for internalizing and externalizing disorders and medical coping, neuropsychological assessment, pediatric consultation, and specialty pediatric services. Training plans are designed according to level of training (student, intern, or postdoctoral fellow). Supervision is provided by the Center’s licensed psychologists, and/or other licensed mental health professionals (licensed social workers, child and adolescent psychiatrists). The Center has several didactic seminars available to trainees, and depending on provides mentoring and supervision in research.

Doctoral Internship Program

The doctoral internship program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation, American Psychological Association and is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Programs.
