Sasha Jaquez, PhD
Sasha Jaquez, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist at Dell Children’s Medical Center. She specializes in providing cognitive-behavioral therapy to children and adolescents with complex medical illnesses and sleep disorders. Additionally, Dr. Jaquez is an assistant professor for the Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and a clinical assistant professor for The University of Texas at Austin Department of Educational Psychology.
Dr. Jaquez received her bachelor’s in psychology, with a double minor in Spanish and counseling and educational psychology, from New Mexico State University. She earned both her doctorate and master’s in psychology, from Oklahoma State University with a specialty focus in pediatric/child clinical psychology. She completed a residency in clinical psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Children’s of Alabama and a fellowship in pediatric psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. Following fellowship, she moved to Akron, Ohio where she received specialized training in pediatric behavioral sleep medicine and established an embedded behavioral sleep medicine clinic at Akron Children’s Hospital.
Upon her return to Texas, Dr. Jaquez became the Director of the Medical Coping Clinic at the Texas Child Study Center and worked to embed psychology services into the Pediatric and Adolescent Dermatology Clinic and joined the multidisciplinary clinic, Texas Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Childhood Obesity (TCPTCO).
Dr. Jaquez currently sees patients in two embedded medical clinics (dermatology and hematology/oncology) where she provides care to children and adolescents presenting with comorbid medical and behavioral health concerns, including acceptance of medical diagnoses. She is a founding member of the American Psychological Association Division 54 Professional Wellness Special Interest Group (SIG) and has national leadership as the Co-Chair of the SIG and Co-Chair of the Professional Wellness Task Force.
