While serving in the military, he played for the All-Marine baseball and soccer teams. After leaving the service, he returned to school where he played one year of junior college baseball. He decided his education was more important and hung up his cleats and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from CSU Fullerton. He continued his education at Illinois State University where he received his Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Recreation and emphasized in the rehabilitation and strengthening of the swimming/diving, baseball, tennis, and volleyball teams. James moved to Texas in 2008 to serve as the Certified Athletic Trainer for the University of Texas men’s soccer, lacrosse and rugby teams.

He currently resides in Round Rock, TX with his wife, Lisa, and their five children, Rylee, Dax, Avery, Lilah and Sawyer. James loves to exercise and is really involved in Crossfit. He and his wife try to be great examples for their children and show them that exercise can be challenging, but still be fun.
