Jackie Barrera is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Health Education Specialist with the Texas Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Childhood Obesity (TCPTCO). She helps assist with the ACES clinic, Healthy Living, Happy Living program and TEEN group.
Born and raised in McAllen, TX, Jackie received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from The University of Texas at Austin. While there, she was a UT cheerleader and served as captain from 2011-2013. Jackie continued her education and attained her Master’s degree in Health Education from Texas State University. During this time, she was a health and nutrition education intern with TCPTCO and assisted the project coordinator with various program activities and events. Shortly after, Jackie completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics from the University of Texas at Austin. Jackie is excited to be a part of the team and help children and families aim to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
In her free time she enjoys exercising, watching sports, and cooking! She is very passionate about health and nutrition and is committed to improving the quality of life of children through nutrition education, guidance and support.
