Hand and Upper Extremity 

The Dell Children’s Hand Program provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, management, surgical treatment options, and follow up for children and adolescents with congenital hand differences, traumatic hand injuries, and other conditions such as juvenile arthritis and hand tumors. Our team includes renowned and experienced physicians who are fellowship trained hand and microsurgery specialists.

Hand and Upper Extremity Clinic

For both congenital conditions and traumatic injuries, the hand and upper extremity clinic provides a full spectrum of hand care for our patients. In one setting, patients can visit their entire care team, including physicians, nurses, therapists, and social workers, maximizing our patients’ time and allowing our clinical staff to collaborate directly in patient care.

  • Assessment & intervention of acute traumatic hand/upper extremity injuries:
    • Tendon Injuries
    • Fingertip Crush Injuries
    • Hand/wrist/upper extremity fractures
  • Assessment & Intervention of congenital hand deformities:
    • Trigger Thumb
    • Polydactyly (extra digits, feet included)
    • Syndactyly (fused digits, feet included)
    • Brachydactyly (short fingers)
    • Camptodactyly (bent fingers)
    • Madelung Deformity
    • Radial Dysplasia
    • Upper Limb Growth Disorders
  • Education concerning injuries & congenital deformities
  • Independent review and interpretation of imaging during visit
  • Surgical discussion and planning
  • Social worker to aid in coordination of therapy and provide community resources
  • Referral coordination and collaboration with other subspecialties and hospitals
  • In clinic Occupational Therapist to collaborate in creating custom splints/exercises/casts
  • Minor procedures for appropriate congenital deformities in office
