Advanced Treatments for Kids
Comprehensive and centralized craniofacial care close to home
Kids are different. Children with deformities, tumors, or traumatic injuries have very complex needs. At the Dell Children’s Craniofacial and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Center, healthcare specialists from multidisciplinary fields work together to provide complete care to their young patients. Well-coordinated care offered in one hospital setting streamlines treatments, making it better for patients, their families and healthcare providers alike. Children and their families become familiar with a treatment setting that is close to their home, while healthcare providers work together to improve the outcomes of their patients.
Multi-disciplinary approach to patient care
The Dell Children’s Craniofacial and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Center not only offers quality medical treatment in a positive healing environment for our patients, it also provides a practice environment in which healthcare providers from various disciplines and specialties can collaborate in new and exciting ways. Patient care teams meet regularly to diagnose, discuss and develop treatment plans for individual patients. This routine, face-to-face exchange of information starts with an extensive initial consultation and continues throughout diagnosis and treatment. In addition, cases are discussed periodically in an open forum so that a patient’s team can benefit from the insights and expertise of other healthcare providers who are not actively involved in the case.
Continuum of care
Our commitment to our young patients is strong and ongoing at the Dell Children’s Craniofacial and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Center. Treatment may start with counseling even before a patient is born, and can continue through childhood and into adulthood. Full-time nurse coordinators ensure a smooth path for every patient, from diagnosis through treatment. As we follow patients over the years, we collect imaging data to study their long-term growth. By analyzing this data, our research staff can improve existing treatments and develop new ones, keeping the center on the forefront of care for children and adolescents.
