What Is a Pediatric Pulmonologist?
A pediatric pulmonologist is a physician that has completed special training in the care of children with respiratory problems. This training involves completion of medical school and a general pediatrics residency training in addition to specialized training in a three-year pediatric pulmonology fellowship program. All physicians at Austin Children’s Chest Associates are board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology.
Does Your Child Need a Pediatric Pulmonologist?
Pediatric pulmonologists specialize in taking care of children with asthma, cystic fibrosis, apnea, premature infants with lung disease, chest wall disorders, snoring, sleep apnea or other sleep disorders, neuromuscular disease, recurrent pneumonia, infants and children with tracheostomies, congenital lung lesions and interstitial lung disease. We also get many referrals for chronic or recurrent cough or wheezing of unknown etiology.
