My Passion for Healthcare

Born in Venezuela, I grew up in a middle class family with hard-working parents. My mom always emphasized the importance of education and encouraged me and my brother never to give up. Early in middle school I started to discover my love for medicine that I then pursued. I moved to the US in the 1990s to complete my residency in Pediatrics. During my second year as a pediatric resident, I spent time in Houston in a rotation in Pediatric Infectious Disease. I saw how I could make a difference in the lives of children and their families.
