I was born and raised in Cleveland and moved to Austin in 2011 with my husband and our four sons. I'll always be a Midwesterner at heart but I am very happy here in Texas. When not working, I enjoy watching my sons play baseball, walking my dogs and spending time with my friends and family.

My Passion for Healthcare

When I was a junior in nursing school, I spent a week volunteering as a camp counselor at the American Cancer Society Camp Friendship for children and adolescents with cancer. I decided during that week that I wanted to devote my career to children with cancer. The biology of cancer is both terrifying and fascinating, and the advances that have been made since I became a nurse 23 years ago have been astounding. I decided to become a pediatric nurse practitioner so that I could continue to care for my patients throughout their cancer continuum, and not only when they are in the hospital.

Services I Provide

  1. Routine Care of Children Undergoing Active Treatment for Cancer
  2. Care and Management of Children with Acute and Chronic Blood Disorders
  3. Treatment of Acute Illness in Children with Blood Disorders and Cancer
  4. Inpatient Management of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Patients
  5. Complex Case Management of Children Undergoing Cancer Treatment
  6. Management of Complications and Side Effects of Cancer Treatment
  7. Off-Treatment Surveillance following Chemotherapy Completion

My Clinical Focus

I care for children and adolescents with blood disorders and all types of cancer, but have a special interest in acute lymphoblastic leukemia and lymphoma. I also have worked for more than 15 years on the safe delivery of chemotherapy within hospital and outpatient settings. I have served as the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses Local Chapter President for two different local chapters, am an APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Instructor, and have been a poster and concurrent session presenter and a town hall moderator at national APHON conferences.
