My Passion for Healthcare

I have engineers and well-educated people in my family, and I enjoy a mental challenge. I went from biology and chemistry in undergraduate studies at UT Austin on to medical school. I went on to pediatrics to be around children who were a pleasure to work with. I continued to the subspecialty of infectious diseases upon working with great mentors who were excellent practical physicians as well as rigorous scientists and great teachers. They loved what they did and I do as well.

My Clinical Focus

I am a clinical pediatric infectious disease physician. I spend my day seeing kids and families, dealing with sometimes difficult illnesses. I see a broad array of medical problems including fever, difficult infections, hospitalized children with severe infections, children with immune deficiency or cancer who have infections, children with bone and joint infections, pneumonia, HIV and hepatitis. I try to be a part of improving the state of medical care for the kids in our community by working with organizations that promote better public health, by doing clinical research and teaching.
