My Passion for Healthcare

My interest in medicine started as a child after frequent visits to the doctor due to asthma. After entering High School I discovered that engaging and teaching children was also close to my heart. I initially went into teaching but realized my calling was medicine. I initially entertained going into hematology, but after completing my epilepsy and sleep rotation, I fell in love with neurophysiology and even more so, EEGs. My goals are to work with primary care physicians, families and patients to carry out a more holistic approach to managing patients with epilepsy.

Services I Provide

  1. Managing Childhood Epilepsy
  2. Paroxysmal Events in Epilepsy
  3. Sleep Disorder Analysis
  4. Neurological Problems from Sickle Cell

My Clinical Focus

The best way to treat patients with epilepsy requires a three-pronged approach: excellent clinical care, education and research/auditing quality of care. My recent research projects include clinical aspect of care in epilepsy, pharmacological research, outcome measures pertaining to epilepsy surgeries, and laser ablation (a new technique in managing epilepsy). I am involved in research both in the US and the Caribbean. I’ve been published in peer-review journals such as Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, Epilepsy Behavior, Journal of Child Neurology, and Epileptic Disorder.
