My wife and I lived in San Antonio for 15 years before moving to Austin. I am a born and raised Texan, and cannot imagine living anywhere else, unless God told me to. When I am not at work I spend my time with my wife, hanging out with our Church “family” and our dog, Bentley.

My Passion for Healthcare

First and foremost, I became a nurse because of my exposure to the healthcare field as a child (my mother is a retired nurse). In 1997, I became the Hemophilia Nurse Coordinator for the South TX Hemophilia Treatment Center in San Antonio, and worked under the late Dr. Howard A. Britton. Under his tutelage, I developed a passion for understanding benign hematological conditions (i.e. Sickle Cell Disease, Hemophilia and Anemias). I wanted to have a greater role in the care of these patients. I graduated from PNP school in 2006, and have continued to work in the field ever since.

Services I Provide

  1. Education on Pediatric Hematologic Conditions
  2. Coordination of Care with Other Providers / Specialties
  3. Management of Children with Hematologic Conditions Having Surgery
  4. Consultation with New Patients with Hematologic Conditions

My Clinical Focus

My main focus is to take care of children with hHematologic conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, bleeding disorders, anemias, and children with low blood cell counts. I also take care of children who have developed, or are at risk for developing, blood clots. I work within a comprehensive team to provide care for, and to help educate the patient and their family about the condition. We utilize other members of our hematology team to provide total care for the patient and family. This is by far the best model of care for young people with acute or chronic hematologic conditions.
