My Passion for Healthcare

It is an honor to care for children and families. I hold in high regard the relationship between a physician and patient as written in the Hippocratic oath. I feel strongly that the newer terms of provider and customer undermine the strength and obligations of our special relationship. It is wonderful to be part of the team at Dell Children’s that works so hard to heal children. One of the best parts of our work is to see children overcome injury and illness. Every fall at the PICU reunion we are reminded of this when we see “courageous kids" and their families return to visit.

My Clinical Focus

I specialize in the care of children with life-threatening illnesses. I work in collaboration with an amazing group of people including nurses, respiratory therapists and other physicians. In addition to my clinical work, I love teaching medical students and residents about the care of critically ill children. In particular, I enjoy my role as co-director for a multidisciplinary workshop for residents on difficult conversations in medicine that I teach along with a talented group of parents, nurses, chaplains and social workers.
