Ascension Texas recently announced that Dr. Elizabeth C. Tyler-Kabara has joined Dell Children’s Medical Center’s division of neuroscience as Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery. She will also serve as Co-Chief of UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children’s with Dr. Steve Roach of Neurology. Dr. Tyler-Kabara is board certified in Neurological Surgery and Pediatric Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Tyler-Kabara will serve as the Director of Restorative Neurosurgery at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. She will be the primary neurosurgeon for the Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program at Dell Children’s, and she will be actively involved in the development of educational programs to train the next generation of pediatric neurosurgeons.

Dr. Tyler-Kabara is a nationally recognized clinical expert in the surgical management of children with movement disorders, epilepsy and skull base disorders. She was formerly a tenured associate professor of neurosurgery, bioengineering and physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh and a faculty of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine. She has led pioneering human research in brain computer interface and neurorestoration.
Dr. Tyler-Kabara has written over 90 scientific publications, is a world-renowned expert in neuromodulation and has focused much of her research on improving function after injury to the central nervous system.
