Superhero Discharge Party for a Real Superhero

After 56 days at Dell Children’s, it was a superhero discharge party for 5-year-old Owen Coulter!

On December 13, 2018,  Owen was rushed to Dell Children’s with flu like symptoms when he went into cardiac arrest. Medical staff performed CPR on him for more than an hour.

His remarkable road to recovery has been long and amazing. He is  now on his way to a full recovery and will be able to enter kindergarten in the fall alongside his twin brother, Hudson.

“I’ve never seen anything this incredible before,” said Dr. Patrick Ryan, emergency room physician at Dell Children’s,  “It just warms my heart to see Owen and his family — able to go home today.”

“He’s our miracle baby, he was the hospital’s Christmas miracle,” said Owen’s mother Kristin Coulter.

Owen is the son of Austin Fire Department Specialist Darin Coulter, his discharge party included dozens of Austin firefighters and a ride home in a firetruck. The heroes today included Owen’s doctors, nurses and support staff at Dell Children’s!
