Everyone’s a superhero on Hero Day

Not all heroes wear capes, but they do on Hero Day

Seton Healthcare Family partnered with the Austin Police Department (ADP) and Wells Fargo to host the fourth annual Hero Day at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. The much-anticipated event provided a fun-filled day for patients and their families by giving them the opportunity to interact with APD officers dressed as superheroes.

Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas is part of Ascension, the largest nonprofit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Superman!

APD officers dressed as superheroes and villains including Batman, Batgirl, Robin, Captain America, Flash, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Spiderman, Superman, Wolverine, Wonder Woman, Cat Woman and The Riddler for an interactive performance for the children to enjoy. The villains tried to spoil the day’s fun, avenging the Joker, who was arrested after trying to thwart 2017’s Hero Day. With patients looking on, the superheroes rappelled down the hospital walls into the courtyard. After capturing Cat Woman and The Riddler, the Super Heroes signed autographs and interacted with children in the auditorium.

“Hero Day is a fun day for our patients, providing a positive distraction during a challenging time,” said Kim Stephens, Child Life manager at Dell Children’s. “We love partnering with the APD, who does a great job making the day interactive for the children.”
