Winter has arrived and as temperatures drop, you’re probably bundling up your children in cozy winter coats. But did you know that puffy winter coats can be dangerous when worn under car seat harnesses?

These harnesses need to fit snugly in order to prevent your child from shifting abruptly in the car seat in the event of a sudden stop or crash. Puffy coats and other bulky winter clothing can compress during a crash, creating extra space between your child and the car seat harness straps. This extra space puts your child at a greater risk for injury.
