Seton Heart Institute, Seton Williamson Host Feb. 5 ‘Know Your Numbers,’ Feb. 7 Free Heart Screenings

ROUND ROCK, Texas – (Feb. 2, 2015) – During Heart Health Month, Seton Heart Institute will host a free “Know Your Numbers” educational presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Seton Medical Center Williamson.

Two days later, Seton Medical Center Williamson will offer free cardiovascular screenings to the public on Saturday, Feb. 7.

“Know Your Numbers” on Feb. 5 will be led by Seton cardiologist Dr. Tannon D. Carroll and provide greater insight on which numbers matter – and which don’t.

From cholesterol and body mass index to blood pressure, Carroll will provide an overview of cardiovascular values and how to understand healthy ranges for heart disease prevention.

“There are so many factors involved in heart disease – from lifestyle to genetics,” Carroll said. “This presentation is designed to help people better understand how to read their numbers so they can take a more active role in preventing cardiovascular disease.”

The seminar will be held in the Learning Center at Seton Medical Center Williamson, 201 Seton Parkway in Round Rock. Free parking is available.

The presentation is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required at

The free Feb. 7 cardiovascular screenings include a panel of four screenings, along with a consultation with a health care professional. The screenings include:

  • Cholesterol Test – measures total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and triglycerides.
  • Body Mass Index – measures body fat based upon height and weight.
  • Body Fat Percentage – measures fat as a percentage of total body weight.
  • Blood Pressure – measures the force of blood against arterial walls during and between heartbeats.

All screenings must be done on an empty stomach, so no food is to be consumed after midnight on the evening prior to your appointment.

“Screenings are an essential step in cardiovascular health – helping us identify risk factors and the right course of action for prevention and treatment,” said Dr. Carroll, cardiologist with Seton Heart Institute.

Appointments are required and can be made by calling 512-324-2333.

Both events will be held at Seton Medical Center Williamson, 201 Seton Parkway in Round Rock.
