ROUND ROCK, Texas – (Dec. 29, 2014) – Seton Healthcare Family has formally opened the door to a mother-baby breastfeeding lounge at Round Rock Premium Outlets. The private lounge offers mothers a convenient, quiet space to breastfeed during shopping visits. It is the first public lounge of this kind to be opened at any shopping area in Williamson County, according to the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce.
Brian Lidiak, vice president and chief operating officer of Seton Medical Center Williamson, wielded the ceremonial scissors in the company of leaders of the Round Rock chamber and Simon Property Group, which owns and operates the outlet mall. Mother’s Milk Bank of Austin set up an information table with handouts on the importance of breastfeeding in raising healthy babies.
“Seton’s goal is to provide excellent care with compassion – we call that Personal Care,” Lidiak said. “We saw this opportunity to partner with Round Rock Premium Outlets as a way to provide Personal Care in the community – in this case, helping mothers and their babies where they are shop and socialize. This new mother-baby breastfeeding lounge provides busy moms a private place to give their babies a healthy start – and I hope other local shopping areas will consider doing the same.”
Located near the Food Court in the center of the outlet mall, the lounge features a comfortable chair and table, a DVD player and flat screen TV, a bathroom sink and mirror, a small play area for toddlers and a diaper changing station. Helpful Seton pamphlets and other materials for mothers of young children also are available.
Reserved parking spaces for new mothers have been added near the Food Court.
Seton plans host health and wellness events for families at the outlet mall over the coming year.
