The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is health-care coverage for people who do not qualify for Medicaid but cannot afford private health insurance.
CHIP covers children from birth to age 18 for these services:
- Medical
- Prescriptions
- Dental
- Vision
- Behavioral health
CHIP Perinatal covers pregnant women and new moms.
Enrollment Fee
- The fee is based on the family’s income. Some families will have to pay $35 or $50 a year to enroll, but lower-income families will pay nothing.
Co-pays
- Co-pays are based on the family’s income.
- Lower-income families will have co-pays that range from $0 to $5.
- Higher-income families will have co-pays that range from $10 to $35.
There are no enrollment fees or copayments for CHIP Perinate members.
