CHIP

The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is healthcare coverage for people who do not qualify for Medicaid but cannot afford private health insurance.

CHIP covers children from birth to age 18 for these services:

  • Medical
  • Prescriptions
  • Dental
  • Vision
  • Behavioral health

Enrollment Fee

  • The fee is based on the family’s income. Some families will have to pay $35 or $50 a year to enroll, but lower-income families will pay nothing.

Co-pays

  • Co-pays are based on the family’s income.
  • Lower-income families will have co-pays that range from $0 to $5.
  • Higher-income families will have co-pays that range from $10 to $35.

There are no enrollment fees or copayments for CHIP Perinate members.

CHIP benefits must be renewed every 12 months.
