Eating lots of plant food is part of a healthy diet.
Evidence is growing about the benefits of “phyto-nutrients” in a primarily plant-based diet. “Phyto” (from the Greek word for “Plant”) nutrients are the natural compounds the body uses to perform some important cancer prevention functions. These champion nutrients are represented by the color, texture and flavors in fruits, vegetables, nuts and beans. The American Institute for Cancer Research tells people to fill 2/3 of your plate with vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and beans. Find out more at the American Institute for Cancer Research.
