Twenty-five CBCC patients completed the Pablove Shutterbugs Pediatric Photography Arts Program that was brought to Austin as a LIVESTRONG® Community Impact Project. Pablove Shutterbugs is the signature arts program of The Pablove Foundation that teaches children living with cancer to develop their creative voice through the art of photography.
Patients participated in a five-week photography classes, which culminated in a Gallery Show held on Monday, June 8, at Austin City Hall where their photographic work was on display.Through the classes, patients gained hands-on experience while learning the principles and techniques of photography from a Pablove Shutterbugs Regional Teaching Artist and trained professional photography mentors.
Each patient received a digital camera to keep so they can continue practicing their art form as
“This was Frankie’s first camera,” says one parent. “He only took phone pictures before. Now he takes his camera with him when he goes out. He’ll take it to the beach this summer. He’s very proud of it!”
Congratulations to our budding photographers! Special thanks to The LIVESTRONG® Foundation and The Pablove Foundation for providing this amazing opportunity for CBCC patients.
