Thank you for your interest in the Dell Children’s Medical Center Teen Summer Volunteer Program! We are accepting applications through Friday, April 11, 2008. We will not accept applications after that date.
In order to become a Teen Volunteer you must be 15 years old as of June 6, 2008. Sorry, this is a hospital policy and we are unable to make any exceptions. In addition to this you must also be willing to fully commit to our 8 week program. We do though allow for two weeks vacation time over the summer, but we must be notified two weeks prior to the vacation date so we can notify your area of your absence.
Our summer Teen Volunteers will either work on:
Monday/ Wednesday- 9:00am-12:00pm
Monday/ Wednesday- 1:00pm-4:00pm
Tuesday/ Thursday- 9:00am-12:00pm
Tuesday/ Thursday- 1:00pm-4:00pm
The program will run from June 7, 2008 until August 3, 2008. The only fee for entering the program will be $15. This fee includes a white polo shirt, which will be part of your uniform and must be worn while volunteering, as well as an ID badge. Those wishing to park in the parking garage will need to pay an additional $5.00. These fees will only apply to those who are accepted in to the program, so please do not send any money at this time.
To assure that volunteers are free from communicable disease, all volunteers will be required to have a current TB skin test before the beginning their assignment. In order for the TB test to be valid, it must have been given no earlier than August 7, 2007. TB tests will be administered for free for those accepted into the program.
In addition, all persons born after 1957 will be required to show proof of the following immunizations or immunity: rubella (3 day or German Measles), 2 live vaccinations against measles (rubella) since 1968, and chicken pox (either dates contracted or date of immunization).
Remember to include a copy of your immunization record (measles, mumps, rubella), a current transcript, two letters of recommendation, have your parent’s signature on the application, and sign the teen volunteer pledge form. We will not accept incomplete applications.
Unfortunately, spaces in the summer Teen Volunteer Program are limited. To insure that you application will be considered, please send a complete application.
