ACES (Activating Children Empowering Success) Clinic

The ACES Clinic at Dell Children’s Medical Center provides multidisciplinary and comprehensive evaluation, management, and treatment for obese children and teens, ages 2 through 18 years. Children are evaluated by a pediatrician with expertise in childhood obesity. Nutrition, physical therapy and psychological assessment, counseling and guidance are critical components of treatment that are also provided for each patient.

Referral

Patients are referred to the ACES clinic through their primary care provider. Children who qualify for referral include any child ages 2- through 18-years-old whose BMI ≥ 99% ile for age and gender or those whose BMI is ≥ 95% ile for age and gender and who have a complication of pediatric obesity. Parents and caregivers support is essential for success; thus, parent/guardian attendance at the clinic visits as well as their active collaboration in the treatment program is mandatory.
