Marni Paul Specialty Care Center
Tracheostomy/Ventilator Program

The Tracheostomy/Ventilator Program cares for children with tracheostomy's and children that are dependent on mechanical ventilation. The goal of our program is to manage the complex medical needs of these children, utilizing numerous specialties in the same outpatient visit.

Program Staff and Services

Patients are generally referred to the nurse coordinator prior to their discharge from the hospital after receiving their tracheostomy. This allows the nurse coordinator to be involved with the discharge planning that assures continuity of care, and the family to become familiar with the program and the nurse that will be acting as their case manager when they go home. Children can also be referred to the program by calling the nurse coordinator.

Other services available include: radiology services, audiology, laboratory services, nursing, respiratory services, nutritional guidance, educational information about tracheostomies/ventilators, coordination of surgical procedures/diagnostic tests and case coordination of home care services.

Team members include: ENTs, Pediatric Pulmonologists, Nurse Coordinator, Respiratory Therapists, Dietitian, Social Services and an Audiologist.

The Tracheostomy Clinic meets the first Thursday of each month. Team recommendations are then shared with the family, the Primary Care Physicians and the home care agency.
