Conditions Treated

At the Children's Sleep Disorder Center at Dell Children's, qualified specialists treat a wide variety of pediatric sleep conditions. Some of the common sleep disorders include:

  • Sleep-associated breathing difficulties (snoring and sleep apnea): Snoring may be a sign of abnormal breathing and is present in obstruct sleep apnea, a type of sleep apnea in which a child stops breathing during periods of sleep.
  • Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS): A sleep disorder characterized by tingling sensations in the legs and an uncontrollable urge to move them. It can be present in children with "growing leg pains."
  • Parasomnias: Types of this sleep disorder are nightmare, night terror and sleepwalking.
  • Excessive sleepiness, including narcolepsy: A child with this condition is excessively sleepy during the day and has a hard time staying awake.
