We need and appreciate community support for the children and families who come to the hospital because of surgery, illness, or accident. Activities provided by groups in the community help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety and provide a much needed distraction from a routine day in the hospital. There are various opportunities for groups to particpate from carnivals schedlued throughout the year to leading art activities in one of the patient activity/playrooms. Please contact the Child Life department to learn how your group can become involved.

The Child Life program, providing recreational and educational activities for patients of all ages, is expanding now that we have moved to Dell Children’s. There will now be three spacious playrooms and a dedicated Teen Room for inpatients and their families! These activity rooms, and the provision of toys and games for children at the bedside and in treatment areas throughout the hospital, allow children and teens to “just be kids” in spite of illness or medical treatment. In order to stock these new play areas with age-appropriate supplies, see our “wish list”.
