George A Edwards, M.D.
Dr. Edwards graduated from Rice with a BA degree. He attended Baylor College of Medicine and completed a pediatric residency at Texas Children's Hospital, serving as chief resident. Dr. Edwards subsequently did a fellowship in pediatric nephrology. He has served as the director of the Austin Pediatric Education Program since 1983.
Richard McGregor Holt, M.D.
Dr. Holt received his BA from Yale in 1966 and went on to the University of Texas Medical Branch. He has served as the director of PCRS since 1997. Dr. Holt's areas of interest include care of hospitalized children and medical education and chronic illness. He has practiced pediatrics in Austin since 1973.
Mark Shen, M.D.
Dr. Shen joined PCRS as the lead hospitalist in the fall of 2007. He completed his undergraduate study at Stanford University and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He trained at the Children's Medical Center of Dallas before joining the UT Southwestern Medical Center as an Assistant Professor and pediatric hospitalist at the Children's Medical Center of Dallas. Dr. Shen is active in medical education and hospital quality improvement.
Valli Annamalai, M.D.
Dr. Annamalai joined the faculty of Austin Pediatric Education Program in August 2005. She attended Texas A&M University, where she earned both her undergraduate and Doctor of Medicine degrees. She received her pediatric residency training at Phoenix Children's Hospital/ Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ, where she also served as chief resident. Her academic background includes being a pediatric hospitalist at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, and most recently a faculty member at Yale University in the outpatient pediatric clinic and pediatric refugee clinic.
David DuBose, M.D.
Dr. DuBose came to the PCRS faculty in January 2004. He has completed residencies in family medicine and pediatrics, at the University of West Virginia and Texas Tech, respectively. He has had a clinical faculty appointment at Texas Tech University Department of Pediatrics and University of Kentucky Department of Family Medicine. Prior to moving to Austin, he held an assistant professorship at UTMB-Galveston. Dr. DuBose holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University and Medical Technology from University of Texas at El Paso. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from Texas Tech University School of Medicine. Dr DuBose has special interest in medical student and resident physician education and in pediatric hospice and palliative care.
Marion McLaurin Forbes, M.D.
Dr. Forbes is a native of Texas who graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University in North Carolina. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Forbes completed pediatric residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Stanford University Hospital. After three years of private practice in California, she joined the general pediatrics faculty at Children's Hospital in 1994.
Meena Ganesh, M.D.
Dr. Ganesh graduated from Sir. Grant Medical College in Mumbai, India, and obtained a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. She did a 2 year residency in General Surgery in Mumbai, India, before coming to the US in 1999. Dr. Ganesh started her pediatric training at UMDNJ, Newark, New Jersey, and completed it with the Austin Pediatric Education Program. Dr. Ganesh also served as Chief Resident at Children's Hospital before joining PCRS in July, 2006.
John C. Luk, M.D.
Dr. Luk joined the faculty of Austin Pediatric Education Program in September 2001 after a brief period of private practice in California. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He completed his undergraduate medical training at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, and pediatric residency at Children's Hospital Oakland in Oakland,CA. Dr. Luk also served as chief resident at Children's Hospital Oakland.
K Lindley Spaht Dodson, MD
Dr. Dodson joined PCRS and the UTMB faculty here in Austin in the fall of 2007. She attended college at Washington and Lee University in Virginia and medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, TN. After residency, she worked at Children’s Hospital Boston and one of their satellite hospitals. She attended on the inpatient wards, worked in the emergency room, and served as a Harvard Medical School Instructor.
Toni Wakefield, M.D.
Dr. Wakefield joined PCRS and UTMB Austin—Pediatrics in 2007. She received her undergraduate degree from Brown University and earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio. She completed her pediatric residency training at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University in California. She later served as a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio with emphases on inpatient pediatric care and medical education.
Donald Williams, M.D.
Dr. Donald Williams joined the pediatric faculty of the Austin Medical Education Programs in October 2002 after graduating from the internal medicine and pediatrics residency program at the University of Cincinnati/Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Williams attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston,Texas.
Lisa Clewner, MD
Dr. Clewner joined PCRS and the faculty of the Austin Pediatric Education Program in August 2008. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before coming to this area for her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio. She then completed her pediatric residency training at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital before returning to Texas to join PCRS.
Jennifer Lai, MD
Dr. Lai joined PCRS and the faculty of the Austin Pediatric Education Program in September 2008. Dr. Lai received her undergraduate and medical degrees in New York, at a combined program through Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College. She then completed her pediatric residency training and spent a year as chief resident at the University of California, Irvine before settling in Austin.
Shaida Ziari, MD
Dr. Ziari joined PCRS and the faculty of the Austin Pediatric Education Program in the summer of 2008. She attended Texas A&M University and received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She completed her pediatric training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. A native of the Austin area, she most recently worked as a neonatal hospitalist in the St David’s hospital system in Austin.
