The Karen W. Teel, M.D. Lectureship was created to honor Dr. Teel’s pioneering contributions to pediatric healthcare in Central Texas.  The Lectureship serves as the keynote address of the Conference.

image Dr. Teel actively practiced pediatrics in Central Texas from 1963 to 2006. She has touched the lives of countless children and their families. She passionately advocated for the creation of the Children’s Hospital of Austin, which opened in 1988, and the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, which opened in July 2007. She remains committed to the highest quality healthcare for our young patients today and continues to work tirelessly in support of that goal.

The Karen W. Teel, M.D. Lectureship Endowment Fund was established under the auspices of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation to support the Lectureship. Proceeds from this permanent endowment fund will support the keynote presentation of nationally prominent Pediatricians at our annual conference.

“Karen’s integrity, determination and insistence that every child in Central Texas receive the highest level of care regardless of their family’s financial circumstances has resulted in a legacy that will always be remember,” says Dell Children’s CEO Bob Bonar. “The establishment of the Karen W. Teel, M.D. Lectureship Endowment Fund is a wonderful tribute to an outstanding pediatrician who we will always hold in the highest esteem.”
