Pediatric Residency Program
Why Residents Chose Austin Pediatrics

Why current residents chose the Austin Pediatric Residency Program

"It was a good match for me. Right size program, definitely in the right place. I was impressed with all of the residents that I met, and my second visit sealed the deal for me. I was thoroughly impressed with everything, from the amazing hospital to the awesome attendings. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

"I love Austin. I have family here and many friends. I lived in Austin during college so it was very familiar. Great weather the majority of the year. I rotated here as a 4th year medical student and felt like I would be a good fit. I liked the size of the program and the hospital is unbeatable. Many of the attendings are young (or at least at heart), hip and smart"

"Liked the hospital, Austin is a great town, program a good size (not too big or too small). The attendings are very eager to teach and usually very approachable. Residents get along well, are usually good about helping each other out. It's an atmosphere of teamwork rather than competition. We get exposure to a lot of different pathology both common bread and butter stuff and more subspecialty focused or rare disease"

"Austin is a cool town, fun stuff to do outside."

"I chose the Austin program because I really enjoyed my time here as a medical student. All of the residents are very close and help each other out. I like that we do not have fellows in our hospital so I get to know the attendings & work with them one on one."

"New facility in a great city. Lots of volume and almost every pediatrics health problem in central Austin is sent there. Very comfortable with residents and staff."

"I chose the program for the city, near family, good size program (not too big/too small), opportunities for community medicine (EAC, etc). Like for those reasons and enjoy not having fellows - being able to work closely with specialists, really like the attendings."

"I was impressed with the program and facilities. The residents also made a good impression on me during the interview process. It seemed like the right fit."

"Friendly residents + staff; residents were generally happy; no fellows; for the single person, this city is a young professional town"

"I chose this program because everyone is super-duper nice! I love the city itself - the variety of things you can find here to do. I love how helpful my seniors and fellow interns are, and have been in my first few months. I feel like everyone is concerned for everyone else's well-being, like a family. In general, the whole group - Attendings, residents, and students - work well together and make the long hours actually kinda fun."

"The program has a wonderful new hospital, perfect size in my opinion, and most importantly it's close to my family in San Antonio."

"I like the people I work with and the beautiful hospital. I also have family nearby."

"It's AUSTIN!!!"
