Pediatric Residency Program
Conferences

Morning Report:
10:30-11:00 a.m. M-F
Designed to provide residents with a broad exposure to inpatient pediatric topics, morning report has a variable format with lectures, case presentations, subspecialty conferences, radiology rounds, and board review. Morning Report is not held on Fridays when Grand Rounds are scheduled.

Noon Conference:
12:15 p.m.-1:15 p.m. M-W; 12:15 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.Th
Lecture topics covering the entire core curriculum presented by teaching faculty, subspecialists and visiting lecturers.

Grand Rounds:
7:30 am-8:30 a.m. two Fridays per month
Faculty, subspecialists, or guest lecturers present an in-depth discussion of a single topic for faculty, resident and staff education.

Journal Club:
12:15 p.m. every other month
Residents are divided into small groups based on their current area of service (inpatient, outpatient, NICU/nursery). An assigned resident presents a clinical question and leads a prepared article review and discussion.

Attending Rounds:
8:30 a.m. daily
Teaching rounds and supervision of patient care with immediate feedback to residents during inpatient, PICU, NICU and nursery rotations.

Ambulatory Care Conference:
7:45 a.m.-8:15 a.m. M-Th
Residents and faculty present topics on well-child care, anticipatory guidance, and ambulatory care issues during the ambulatory clinic rotation at East Austin Clinic.
