Bio
Dr. Mia Griggs, the Director of Sports Medicine for Austin Medical Education Programs, is committed to comprehensive healthcare for athletes and active people of all ages. She provides care for individual performers and team competitors sidelined by illness or injury. She also incorporates exercise into the treatment of specific health conditions. Her experience as a NCAA Division I track and cross-country athlete, along with her specialty training in Sports Medicine, give her an understanding of the importance of tailoring the care of each patient to fit specific activity and performance goals.
After graduating from East Carolina University School of Medicine, Dr. Griggs completed her residency training at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina. She went on to attain fellowship training in Sports Medicine at East Carolina University. Dr. Griggs is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has specialization in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Griggs moved to Austin in the summer of 2005 and has found the area a welcome fit for her personal as well as professional interests. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Jamie, and daughter Sara. In addition, she remains an avid runner and enjoys both trail and road cycling.
