Bio

Board certified in general, child and adolescent psychiatry, and is the only child psychiatrist in Texas board certified in psychosomatics.

Dr. Streusand earned his bachelorís degree from Washington University in St. Louis and received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where he also completed a Psychiatry Residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. While in Houston he served as the Chief Resident in Psychiatry at Texas Childrenís Hospital, held clinical faculty positions at Baylor, and served as director of child and adolescent services at several hospitals in the Houston area. He served as President of the Medical Staff at St. David Pavilion in Austin, and pioneered an imbedded mental health clinic model at Peopleís Community Clinic as a regular volunteer provider over a six-year period. He holds faculty appointments at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, UT-Southwestern-Austin, and UT Austin in the Educational Psychology Department. He is the co-founder and Medical Director of the Texas Child Study Center, a collaborative venture between Dell Childrenís Medical Center and the UT Educational Psychology Department. He is also the Chief of Psychiatry at Dell Childrenís Medical Center and heads the Psychiatric Consultation/ Liaison service there.

Dr. Streusand is board certified in general, child and adolescent psychiatry, and is the only child psychiatrist in Texas board certified in psychosomatics. He was honored recently with membership in the American College of Psychiatrists. His special interests include the psychological aspects of physical symptoms, autism spectrum disorders, and childrenís mental health systems of care.
