AUSTIN, Texas - (May 15, 2013) - New nonsurgical and surgical options for treating children afflicted with scoliosis - curvature of the spine - will be explored Tuesday evening, May 21, by a fellowship-trained adult and pediatric surgeon who is co-chair of the Seton Spine & Scoliosis Center.

Dr. Matthew Geck will speak at 6 p.m. in Signe Auditorium, located in Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, 4900 Mueller Blvd., Austin. The seminar is free of charge. Seats can be reserved by phoning 512-324-3580 and selecting Option 8.

Geck has focused exclusively on spine and scoliosis treatment for the past 10 years and has performed more than 1,500 surgeries. He also is the founder of SpineHope, a nonprofit organization helping children with spinal deformities worldwide through surgery, education and research.

Seton Spine & Scoliosis Center specializes in back and neck problems and emphasizes nonsurgical approaches. It is the only spine-specialized neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery and non-surgical rehabilitation group in Central Texas. The practice handles some of the most complex back and neck pain cases throughout Texas and from neighboring states.
