Seton launches web radio station devoted to matters of the heart

AUSTIN, Texas - (Feb. 7, 2012) - "Pumping at you from four chambers," calls out DJ James McCurdy, the "voice" for The Beat on Seton.fm radio. image

The Seton Healthcare Family's recently launched internet radio station brings to light matters of the heart throughout National Heart Month in a way that is entertaining, informative and convenient to access.

"There is such a wealth of important information available about heart health, yet it's either scattered on different sources or difficult to understand," said Michael Dollen, Seton Healthcare Family vice president of Communications, Marketing and Brand Management. "With The Beat on Seton.fm, Seton hopes to deliver valuable heart awareness tips with an element of fun."

Radio interviews feature Seton Heart Institute cardiologists and other heart specialists covering a broad spectrum of subjects, including:

  • Women and heart disease
  • Heart risks of energy drinks
  • Innovative cardiology procedures
  • Fainting spells, a possible indicator of heart issues.

"Anyone with internet access can listen in, and at any time of day," said McCurdy who, when not acting as the voice on The Beat, serves physicians who provide Seton cardiology services.

The website, also specially formatted for mobile devices, is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week from any computer or portable technology with internet access.

imageThroughout February, Seton will introduce additional content such as patient stories, local tips for heart healthy activities, partner organization updates and interactive components such as "The Beat hotline."

By leaving a message on the hotline at (512) 843-1649, the public can ask their heart questions which may be answered by Seton medical professionals on The Beat.

To access the radio station, visit Seton.fm and click the play button. To learn about Seton.fm updates, stay tuned to Seton Healthcare Family's Facebook and Twitter.
