News Dell Children's Wins NAACP Community Service Award

Austin, Texas - (December 15, 2008) - Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, a member of the Seton Family of Hospitals, has been awarded with a 2008 Community Service Award presented by Austin NAACP.

Dell Children's was recognized for supporting the healthcare needs of children and for its partnership with community agencies in East Austin.

"Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas is the primary employer of east and northeast Austin and its workforce reflects a commitment to diversity," said Nelson Linder, President, Austin Branch NAACP. "The outreach efforts of the hospital's volunteers go beyond commendable and sincere - they have taught us much as a community."

Volunteers provide assistance to patients, families and staff, raise funds to help support hospital programs and serve as goodwill ambassadors within the community.

"It's an honor to be recognized by the NAACP," said Marilyn Bostick, Director of Volunteer Services, Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas. "The Seton Family is committed to serving its patients, their families and the community in all aspects of their healthcare." Bostick accepted the award on behalf of Dell Children's at the NAACP DeWitty/Overton Freedom Banquet on December 6.

The objectives of the Austin branch of the NAACP are to ensure community empowerment, create a positive and productive coalition with other ethnic groups, along with many other worthy causes. The local branch strives to be relevant in every aspect of African American life in Austin and help contribute to the overall quality of life of Austin's residents.
